Browsing for Scores of Percussion Music

To browse the library's collection of percussion scores, go to the Libraries' home page and click on the "Libraries Catalog" link. Then type in one of the Subject Headings listed below in the search box, and choose "Subject Heading" in the drop-down box at the right.

To find scores for solo percussion, type the call number M146 into the search box, and choose "Call Number" in the drop-down box at the right.

Finding a Score of a Particular Piece

Sometimes you know exactly what piece you are looking for. Suppose you want a score of Elliott Carter's Eight Pieces for Four Timpani.  Go to the Libraries' home page at http://www.lib.ua.edu.  Click on "Libraries Catalog" on the home page; then click on Advanced Search.  In the first box, type in the composer's name, last name first: "carter, elliott," and choose "as a phrase" and  "author" from the drop-down menus at the right. In the second box type "eight pieces" (no need to capitalize names or titles), and choose "as a phrase" and "title" in the drop-down menus. In the drop-down menu next to Type, choose "music score." Then click Search. You will find the catalog record of the score with the call number.
