Searching for Journals

UA Libraries has access to hundreds of online and bound journal publications.

Print copies of journals are found in the Libraries' Catalog by selecting "journal title" in the drop down box next to the search field. They can be located in the stacks by call number.

E-journals, found only online, may be accessed via the Libraries' website: E-journal Search
Here, titles may be searched or browsed by title and subject.

Search Tips

  • Put quotes around more than one word, e.g. "special education"
  • Whenever possible, use truncation (child* searches for child, children;)  Dont make it too short: communit* gets  (community, communities), commun*gets those words plus many others: (communes, communion, communist).
  • Think of synonyms when ever possible.  (e.g. elementary or primary; school reform or educational change, etc.)
  • The ERIC Database includes a thesaurus of age and grade level descriptors.  It can be acccessed online. Not all databases use ERIC terminology, but many do. Familiarize yourself with the scholarly vocabulary of the world of Education.
