New Faculty: Home

Welcome to the University of Alabama Libraries! We have 3.5 million volumes and provide access to 130,000 print and electronic journals. We support access to various e-book and streaming video platforms. We support student centered digital projects through the Sanford Media Center, and we provide management and technical support for your Digital Humanities projects through the Alabama Digital Humanities Center. We have printing and scanning services that include 3D printing as well. Library Liaisons work with faculty on teaching and research needs. Stop by, or contact your liaison today to explore our services and resources in depth! Visit the University Libraries webpage for hours and location information.

New faculty members may have teaching and research interests that fall outside the current collection scope of the University Libraries. In recognition of that fact, the Dean of Libraries annually sets aside a modest allocation to support requests from new faculty for one-time or start-up purchases. This allocation allows the Libraries to provide prompt, one-time funding as requests are received and to reassess long-term collection policies. The University Libraries welcomes suggestions about materials purchases, but reserves the right to make all decisions about materials purchased for the collections. Please direct requests to Michael Arthur, Department Head, Resource Acquisition and Discovery, The University Libraries.
