RefWorks is a powerful online research management, writing and collaboration tool designed to help researchers at all levels easily gather, organize, store and share all types of information and to instantly generate citations and bibliographies.

With RefWorks you can:

  • Save and organize citations
  • Build bibliographies
  • Insert citations while writing a paper
  • Share research with colleagues and peers

How to Set Up an Account

1. Start at     

2. Select either On Campus  or  Off Campus  access, if off campus, you may be prompted for your MyBama information.

3. If you are a first time RefWorks user, choose the "Sign Up for a New Account" link.


4. Choose a Log In Name and Password (these can be anything you will remember)

5. Start building your RefWorks Citation Database!
