Grab-N-Go Book Pick Up Service 8/19/20

Although we have opened our stacks back up to users, we are continuing to offer our Grab N Go book pick up service.

Follow these easy steps:

For Print: 

Patrons can request print materials via the “Request Item” button in the catalog or directly from their ILLiad accounts. 

Patrons can also click here for instructions related to requesting physical and electronic items. 

Patrons will receive an email notification when materials are ready for pick-up. Patrons are required to pick up their own items - no proxy service will be allowed during this time. Items will be held on the hold shelf for 5 days.

Patrons should go to the Circulation Desk on the second floor of Gorgas Library to pick up their books.

Or call 205-348-9748 to arrange a pick up at the Capstone Doors.

Requests will be filled within three business days. Patrons will be required to show their Action Card to staff when receiving materials.

Annex requests will be filled as part of the Grab-n-Go service.


Patrons can also place requests for scans from print materials. We will scan articles or chapters. The number of article/scan requests processed will normally be limited to 10 items per day based on daily volume. The delivery time for scan requests can take up to 3 business days, depending on the material.

Patrons will receive an email with a link to the PDF scan in their ILLiad account when the request has been processed. The PDF scan will be under “Received Copies” located in the menu on the left side of the screen.  Electronic items will remain accessible for 30 days from the date of posting.
