College Financial Aid

Why College is Expensive

Here are some reasons why college is expensive.

  • Labor, i.e. instruction costs, are high. Not all college teachers are paid the same.  Some college teachers/professors are paid more than others (e.g. Business, Engineering, Law, Medicine, etc. [ordered alphabetically, not by income].
  • Universities/colleges, generally/traditionally speaking, have large, expensive physical plants (i.e. campuses) to maintain.
  • Universities/colleges are complex and diversified business operations and therefore have large associated managerial/operational costs.
