MUS 121: Intro to Listening: Scout

Music Library resources and how to use them.

Using Scout

Scout is useful for finding a large number of articles, books, scores and recordings which you can then narrow down.  For example, suppose you want to find information on the influence of Billie Holiday.  Click on Scout on the Libraries' homepage ( In the search box type "billie holiday" and influence. Be sure to use quotation marks so that you will be searching Billie Holiday as a phrase, not as individual words.  Once you have a list of items (there will be thousands), use the menu on the left-hand side to limit your results.
