Getting Started

Advantages of Using Google Sheets:

  • Price.  Sheets is a free program.
  • Collaboration.  Multiple users can edit a Google Sheets file simultaneously.  This makes it ideal while working in teams.
  • Accessibility.  Sheets can be accessed from any device with your Google account.  It is not dependent on having a program installed on a specific terminal/computer.
  • Saving you work.  Sheets automatically saves your spreadsheet to your Google Drive.  No need to manually save your file, or have to remember the path to the file.

To launch Google Sheets click on the App Launcher:

Editing Shortcuts

Copy:  CTRL + C
Paste:  CTRL + V
Cut:  CTRL + X
Undo:  CTRL + Z
Redo:  CTRL + Y
Find:  CTRL + F
Find & Replace:  CTRL + H
Bold:  CTRL + B
Italics:  CTRL + I
Underline:  CTRL + U

 

Navigation Shortcuts

Select Entire Column:  CTRL + Space
Select Entire Row:  Shift + Space
Insert Column or Row:  CTRL + ALT + =
Delete Column or Row:  CTRL + ALT + -
Go to Beginning of Row:  HOME
Go to End of Row:  END
