Humanities and Creativity Seminar Guide--Dr. John Miller: CDs and DVD's


Gorgas Library houses many sound recordings of musicals and operas, or CDs cataloged by artist, genre, etc.  Select the links below to browse a partial listing CDs in the classic catalog. If you would like to check out a CD  take the call number to the circulation desk on the 2nd floor of Gorgas Library.

 To find a specific recording, go to the Libraries' Catalog and select Advanced Search.  If you want a CD of "Lemonade," by Beyonce, type the title in the first box, and select  and "Title" from the drop down menus to the right.  In the second box, type the word "compact." To search for CD's by the Rolling Stones, type the name in the first search box, limit for author, and then type "compact" in the second search box. 

If you want to find CDs of all the work of a single composer, rock star or performer, go to Advanced Search and type the composer's or performer's name, last name first, in the first box, selecting "as a phrase" and "author" from the drop down menus to the right.  In the second box, type "compact" Then click Search. 



There are many DVD's available in Gorgas Library.  To find them, use the Music Library Video Database.  Use the dropdown menu to browse for videos by genre. You can choose from Ballet, Musical, Music-Jazz, Rock, Opera, Art, Archtecture, etc. Or type a title in the search box to find a particular video. Once you have identified a DVD you would like to access, take the call # (formatted like this DVD 2014-34) to the circulation desk on the second floor of Gorgas. Remember you need your action card to check out materials.
