The Institutional Repository (IR) is a platform for collecting, preserving, and distributing scholarly and creative works produced by The University of Alabama community.

The IR supports academic publishing and scholarly communication via a searchable, open access, web-based database for scholarly articles, working papers, research data sets, presentations, theses and dissertations, textbooks, center publications, and project reports. The IR facilitates open access with increased visibility of research and scholarship that lead to higher downloads and citations, compliance with funder-mandated policies, and long-term digital preservation with stable URLs and DOIs. The IR contents are assigned appropriate and consistent metadata and are indexed by Google to enhance discoverability for users.
