Open Access

OA for UA Authors

UA Libraries negotiated a Read and Publish agreement with Cambridge University Press allowing newly-published articles by UA researchers to be published Open Access in any of nearly 400 Cambridge University Press journals -- all at no cost to the authors. The agreement represents a significant breakthrough in bringing UA's leading-edge research to readers without restrictive paywalls or extra charges, and in helping to build a new, more financially-sustainable model of scholarly communication. More information and instructions for UA authors are available here.

How do I find Open Access pubishing options?

  • The Directory of Open Access Journals lists many open access journals, but not all.
  • Many subscription journals will allow authors to make their work open access through a respository or on their personal websites. Read the publishing agreement on the journal's website, speak with a librarian about publisher policies, or negotiate with your publisher to alter the copyright terms. Creative Commons licenses come in several varieties to fit your needs.
  • The Directory of Open Access Repositories lists many repositories which make research open access for readers.
  • Be cautious about where you submit. Visit Think.Check.Submit. for advice on how to recognize predatory journals.
