What is Occam's Reader?

Occam's Reader is a software program that allows you to read e-books borrowed through ILL. 

The current version is developed and hosted by Texas Tech University.

The borrowed eBook is accessed through the Occam's Reader web viewer. 

The eBook can be viewed on any device with internet capabilities.
Google Chrome web browser is recommended for best viewing results. 

Access to the eBook loan requires authentication through a URL and password. 

The borrower will receive an email message with the login information that is forwarded by the lending library.

The web viewer has simple tools embedded for:

viewing the next page, previous page
zooming in and out
rotating the image
page navigation feature is found along the bottom of each page
icon to submit a feedback form

Loan periods

Borrower's receive an email with a token-authenticated link to view the item in a web browser. 

E-book loan periods are: 

14 days for the entire e-book 

90 days for an e-book chapter 

The loan dates begin the day you receive the email.  No renewals are available. 

The link will expire automatically the file will be automatically deleted when the loan expires. 

Additional information about Occam's Reader

You will not be able to download,print, or copy pages from the e-books borrowed through Occam's Reader.  If you need a different format for your research purposes, please submit a request with a note stating your need a physical copy or a PDF of a chapter.
