EndNote

Resources to help you use the EndNote reference management software available in the UA Libraries.

Downloading EndNote

Creating and Syncing an Account

After installing EndNote, be sure to visit EndNote Web to create an account. Click "Register" on the right side. We recommend when filling this out, to use your current institution email i.e. @crimson.ua.edu or @ua.edu, since UA has an institutional license and usually cannot be transferable.

After you have successfully created your account, be sure to next sign into your account and sync it from the web to desktop application. This can be done by opening EndNote on the desktop, going to Edit > Preferences > Sync. Click on Enable Sync and type in your username and password.

Setting Up Authentication & Full Text Finder

After installing EndNote, navigate to Edit > Preferences > Find Full Text

For the OpenURL Path, put in the textbox: https://libdata.lib.ua.edu/login?url=https://resolver.ebscohost.com/openurl?

For the Authentication URL, put the following: http://libdata.lib.ua.edu/login?url=

What is an Authenticator & OpenURL?

OpenURL – A link resolver tool in EndNote used to check if your library provides access to the full text of a reference, directing you to the article through your institution's holdings.

Authenticator – A login gateway that allows EndNote to pass through your institution’s proxy or authentication system so it can access and download subscription-based full-text PDFs.
