Purchase Requests

University Libraries welcomes suggestions about materials purchases but reserves the right to make all decisions about materials purchased for the collections. There are two ways to make a purchase request suggestion:

InterLibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

ILL provides free access to materials needed for coursework and research not available in the UA Libraries. The parameters of the service are governed by the current copyright law and guidelines, the National Interlibrary Loan Code, the lending institution’s policies and the UA Libraries policies.

Document Delivery

Document Delivery
Document Delivery includes Materials Express and Scan Express for UA faculty, staff, and students for items held by UA Libraries.

  • Materials Express: Faculty can request books and other materials be held at the library of their choice. Faculty can also have items delivered via intra-campus mail.
  • Scan Express provides scans from print and microform collections. To comply with U.S. copyright law, only one book chapter or one article per journal issue is allowed per request.

Course Reserves

The University Libraries allows for faculty members to place items on reserve for their courses. Most course reserves will be offered in electronic format within a course’s Blackboard shell; physical course reserves will be offered in only a limited number of cases.

  • Reserve lists and materials must be submitted two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester for priority consideration.
  • Instructors are responsible for copyright compliance for materials that are placed in Blackboard.
