The Institutional Repository (IR) is a platform for promoting open access and exposing University of Alabama scholarship to a world-wide audience. Repositories are important tools for preserving an organization's legacy, and they facilitate long-term digital preservation and scholarly communication. 

The University of Alabama’s Institutional Repository supports and supplements academic publishing and scholarly communication via a searchable, open access, web-based publishing platform for:

We want to make the process as simple as possible. If you are unsure at what you are allowed to upload into the repository, feel free to email us your CV. We will review the copyright policies for each work you have listed and let you know which version of manuscript can be uploaded into the Institutional Repository.

To Submit a Paper

1. Register for an account

2. Click Submissions and Start a New Submission

3. Select your department or affiliation

4. Enter your coauthors, title, and keywords

5. Upload your document

After submitting your document, we will review the submission. This process involves creating a cover page, applying metadata, and making sure the manuscript finds a proper home within the IR. We will email you with a permanent link once the submission is finalized.
