Journal articles are published writings from an expert in a particular field. In your classes, you will use other types of sources in your work such as books, e-books, periodicals, and videos. To find these, Scout is a great place to start.
What is Scout?
Scout is the University of Alabama Libraries' discovery tool. Scout simultaneously searches the library catalog, databases of scholarly work, electronic collections, images, streaming media, and much more.

Databases
Scout is best for preliminary searching. Sometimes, you need more subject-specific material. UA Libraries have databases in every subject. A Database is an online tool or collection of works that have been published. The A-Z Database page can be searched by subject, type, and title.
