Roll Tide Research (RTR) is designed to give students choice, flexibility, and accessibility in how they learn core research skills.
Each module is built around three learner pathways and a structure that supports multiple learning styles and access needs.
Students can choose how they want to engage with the content or mix and match pathways depending on their preferences.
Read: Text, images, and interactive elements in a traditional scrollable format.
Watch: A captioned video series that delivers the same lesson content in an audio-visual format.
Do: A downloadable guided practice document with hands-on activities that can be completed digitally or on paper
Students can complete modules in sequence or skip directly to the lesson or section they need.
They can scroll past sections they don’t need and jump directly to relevant content.
Pathways can be combined. For example, a student might watch the video for one lesson and complete the guided practice document for another.
Each lesson follows a consistent design to make navigation intuitive:
Brief Overview – Introduces the topic and learning goals.
Chunked Content – Short sections with clear headings, visuals, and examples.
Formative Activities – Matching, drag-and-drop, scenarios, or multiple-choice with immediate feedback (ungraded).
Recap and Next Steps – Quick summary and links to the next lesson, module quiz, or guided practice document.
RTR is built using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Universal Design for Instruction (UDI):
UDL ensures multiple ways to engage with content, represent information, and allow students to demonstrate understanding.
UDI ensures that the learning environment is intuitive, accessible, and inclusive for all students.
These frameworks are the reason modules use multiple pathways, allow open navigation, and include ungraded activities—approaches that promote learner autonomy, reduce barriers, and support equity.
Individual Lessons: 5–10 minutes, depending on pathway and interaction level.
Full Module: 20–40 minutes if all lessons and activities are completed.
RTR modules are mobile-friendly and can be accessed from most devices.
For best results:
Use a stable internet connection.
Access via an up-to-date web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Firefox recommended).
Videos are fully captioned and can be played with or without audio.
Guided practice documents can be completed in Microsoft Word or printed for handwritten completion.
