UA LibGuides Author Guide: Add a Page from the UA LibGuides Template

Here's how to add a single page from the UA LibGuides Template to your guide. This is the easiest way to add the required Start Here page to an existing guide.

1) In the guide you'd like to add the page to, select Add / Edit Pages > Add / Reuse Page.

2) Select the Reuse Existing Page tab.

3) Select the page you wish you reuse.

• To reuse the Start Here page from the UA LibGuides template, select:
• UA LibGuides Template by Steven Turner (guide)
• Start Here (page)

4) Select Position > "Add as a top-level page."

5) Select "Create a copy of this page rather than linking to the original."

6) Select Reuse Page.

When adding a page from the UA LibGuides Template to your guide, be sure to make these changes before publishing!

• Add / Edit Pages > Change Page Info > Description
• Add / Edit Pages > Reorder / Move Pages
• The Start Here page should be the first top-level page in your guide.
• If you add other pages from the UA LibGuides Template to your guide, please don't change their names, and use them in this order:
  • Start Here
  • Articles & Databases
  • Books 
  • Websites
  • Citation Help
• Start Here page > Contact Us box
• Link to- don't copy- your library's contact box in the UA LibGuides Repository. After adding the box to your guide, be sure to change the box title to "Contact Us."
• Start Here page > Guide Contents box
• Edit this required box to include links to and brief descriptions of each top-level page in your guide. Do not change the title of the box.
• Make sure the URLs have "...content.php..." in them, not "..."aecontent.php..."; aecontent is the edit mode and the link won't work for most users. You can edit the link to remove the "ae."
• Start Here page > Best Bets box
• Edit this optional box to include links to and brief descriptions of 3-5 key resources. If you use the Best Bets box, do not change its title.
• Make sure the URLs have "...content.php..." in them, not "..."aecontent.php..."; aecontent is the edit mode and the link won't work for most users. You can edit the link to remove the "ae."
• Start Here page > Welcome box
• Edit this optional box to reflect the actual contents of your guide. If you use the Welcome box, do not change its title.
• Interior Pages (Articles & Databases, Books, Websites, Citation Help)
• Contact Us boxes
• Link to- don't copy- your library's contact box in the UA LibGuides Repository. After adding the box to your guide, be sure to change the box title to "Contact Us."
• The other edits you'll need to make will vary from guide to guide, but here are some things to check:
• Boxes may contain descriptions or instructions for their use. Be sure to edit or delete this text before publishing your guide.
• Some boxes are solely descriptive/informational. Be sure to delete them before publishing your guide.
